In October last year we went to Zakopane on a school trip. I took about 700 photos. Here a few:

That is a great place, each time I am in Poland, I make sure to spend some time there.

What do you like most in Zakopane?

The shops, the people, the full area. The history of this area, and it's people, everything. It is one of my favorites in Poland.

It is funny but I don`t like it too much. Those Highlanders rip people off their money and I don`t enjoy being ripped off.

I used to go to Zakopane a lot as a uni student but only because my girlfriend liked it. After we split, I stopped visiting the place though it is only 1.5 hour drive from Krakow.
So it happened that I went on a school trip to Z. in October 2009 for the first time since 1988. 21 years.

They treated me, a American, great, and I love the area, and will return on my next visit to Poland, and plan on spending more time there, this time.

All tourist attractions rip people off. (they have to make a living somehow) Being a native you must know of places off the beaten path that you get a better bargain. Nie Pan Jerzy?

Americans are not as dumb as you make us out to be, even when we travel far away. I have heard of many stories of the Americans getting the best of a deal when dealing with these shops. I was never taken in.
More so, when the Polish come here to the USA, do they get taken in by bad people.
