Hi, I am 38 years old and have been hypothyroid for 4 years. I have been on Synthroid (feel asleep at work at my desk) and then found a doc to give me Armour in 2006. Only problem was I still did not feel 'right' and had EXTREME breast sensitivity. Doctor said it was unrelated to thyroid and not to worry about it. I stopped wearing regular bra's and just wore sports bras and figured I just had to deal. Then in September when the Armour shortage came I became so hypo, tons of hair in the drain the shower she wanted me back on Synthroid but after much pleading she put me on 2 grains of Canadian Thyroid ERFA. She also had me order a supply of 30 mg tabs just in case we needed to play with the dosage. To make a long story short I played with the dosage myself and gave myself 2.5-3 grains daily (150 mg-180mg) and for the first time in 4 years the breast sensitivity went away. I went out and bought new bras and rejoiced.
But here is the thing, sometimes I am now feeling hypo and the breast sensitivity comes and goes. This scares me. I am afraid to go back to Dr. B because she is going to test my numbers and see a suppressed TSH and lower my dosage and bring back symptoms but I also don't want to hurt my body in any way. I need a doctor in Chicagoland who knows this stuff inside and out and can help me once at for all. I would also really like to have someone who takes insurance.
Please email me at lockhart.kristy@gmail.com or post here if you know of a doctor that can help me?
Thanks,
Kristy
