Not having a fitness goal is like going into business without having business plan or going to college and not picking a major (I know a lot of people who never graduated because they couldn't decide what they wanted).
Having a goal is what determines how you should workout and it's something that can change every few months, every year, or every few years.
My goal a long time ago was to fit into my skinny jeans but then I did that so I had to figure out ways to stay motivated. My goals now have nothing to do with how I look (although looking good is important to me it's not what drives my workouts).
My clients set new goals all the time. One wanted to hike machu pichu now she just wants to keep up with her grandkids. Another wanted to lose 40 pounds now she needs to be able to study for long hours without feeling back pain. Another client wanted to a healthy bodyfat and now he just wants to be able to beat cancer.
What's your fitness goal? Don't have one? Maybe it's time you did.
My goals have been to hike 13 miles without getting tired, to do more pushups than my male clients, to run at the park non-stop for 45 minutes with my son, to kayak without shoulder or neck pain, and right now my goal is to be strong enough to top rope with one of my friends.
