Not having a fitness goal is like going into business without having business plan or going to college and not picking a major (I know a lot of people who never graduated because they couldn't decide what they wanted).

Having a goal is what determines how you should workout and it's something that can change every few months, every year, or every few years.

My goal a long time ago was to fit into my skinny jeans but then I did that so I had to figure out ways to stay motivated. My goals now have nothing to do with how I look (although looking good is important to me it's not what drives my workouts).

My clients set new goals all the time. One wanted to hike machu pichu now she just wants to keep up with her grandkids. Another wanted to lose 40 pounds now she needs to be able to study for long hours without feeling back pain. Another client wanted to a healthy bodyfat and now he just wants to be able to beat cancer.

What's your fitness goal? Don't have one? Maybe it's time you did.

My goals have been to hike 13 miles without getting tired, to do more pushups than my male clients, to run at the park non-stop for 45 minutes with my son, to kayak without shoulder or neck pain, and right now my goal is to be strong enough to top rope with one of my friends.

My husband is running a marathon in December (in Hawaii!!!). While I don't feel like I can train for the marathon, I decided to the the 10K they are also running the same day. Now, Im not a runner. Im fit, but running is tough for me. So, I plan to do a run walk that day. But how cool is it that I get to train with my husband and complete my goal in Hawaii. Wish me luck, the race is in December.

My goal with exercising is to keep my body healthy as long as possible. When you get near 60, your goals aren't marathons but just trying to decrease your joint pain-lol.

That's an awesome goal Pascale and way to go for being inspired by your hubby! I was just in Maui for my birthday and it was so awesome. I've also done some killer hiking in Oahu. You will love Hawaii. What island are you going to be visting?

Bommer Gal you are so right about goals changing over time. I think it's important to know what truly motivates you and focus on workouts that fit your goal. Not having joint pain is a big reason lots of my clients workout. I'm actually going to write about that soon.

Hello, Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to lose weight. But whatever the reason, healthy weight loss brings innumerable benefits to the quality of one's life. Loss of excess weight has been shown to reduce the risk of many forms of cancer, coronary heart disease and diabetes. Thanks
