A short story is short enough to be read in one sitting, as opposed to a novel which may take weeks to read. What makes up a good, possibly great, short story?
One particular incident with lots of detail. Some readers complain about detail but that is what makes it come alive. Usually if a writer has some description of food in the first page, I am hooked!
