I've enjoyed loose tea in the past but the metal infuser ball thing I have is a ROYAL pain to open and close and I just give up because of it. Surely there's an easy way to do this!
Suggestions?

I have some lovely open netted scoops i bought from TeaVanna and they are ideal. They sit on top your mug. You pour the hot water through it and let things sit.
I can usually get two uses from the leaves this way.
Wait for the leaves to all dry so they will dump out without having to waste water washing the net. Then you dump the tea leaves into the compost bin, all ready for your next tea session.
I adore anything from TeaVanna and they have great tea tools and accessories, not to mention my favorite loose teas.

Ah ok so it's not a sealed ball? That sounds much easier to me!

My favorite, and I have tried both the ball and the net type (both cloth and bamboo) infusers, is a glass cup with an infuser, also glass, that nests right inside the cup. The one I have now is made by a company named Primula. It is by far the easiest way I have found to make loose leaf tea. It cleans in a jiffy and you only taste the tea

Hi everyone! Glad to jump in on the conversation, while I have used many types of infusers-well, I'm kind of lazy, (shh did I say that?)I don't like to be bogged down by mess and stuff so I am kind of partial to "easy" clean up things I like to use an infuser basket.I like the Finum brand made in Germany. They do have a web site. Their namedotcom. Can be placed into cup and water poured on top, comes with lid, mesh basket can be washed in dishwasher, I like to hand wash. Costs something like $12.00 I believe.
I like the tea pin, cloth bag and throw away- I will be holding a New Year sweep(In Jan.) where I hope to give one lucky winner a tea pin of their own.

I use the finum or something similar. It is apiece of cake to use and is big enough for the leaves to really expand. Haven't found anything big enough for my 9 cup pot yet, for that I use 2 screw together balls. Ah me. Anyone know where I can get a gigunda infuser for it?

Ok I found the Finum item - I've just ordered it from Amazon! Thanks! I think this will be SO much more ecologically sound than having all these little bags and tags and so on

I think you'll really like it. I got the pot size, but I use it in mugs as well. It holds enough to brew about a 6 cup pot, if the tea leaves aren't too huge. I feel like I have a truly international compost pile. LOL
