I have to admit that my craft room is a huge mess. One of my resolutions this year is to get it cleaned and organized so that I have a space my daughter and I can comfortably work in and so that I have a nice space to teach some classes from home. One of the first things I have done is to purchase many (okay, 60) photo boxes. I have labeled these according to what's in them and had my husband install shelving to put them on. I have a long way to go, but this is definitely a good start for me. I can tell at a glance where things are at and simply grab the box(es)I need.
