Last fall I visited the lovely Les Cheneaux Islands area of Michigans Upper Peninsula (UP). In the charming little town of Hessel I met cookbook author Bonnie Stewart Mickelson. Bonnie's cookbook, "Hollyhocks & Radishes, Mrs. Chard's Almanac Cookbook," is a real treat. Full of great recipes it's also a great read with letters, side-bar notes, beautiful illustrations, and interesting info about cooking as well as the UP.
