In medical terms, problem of dry skin is known as Xeroderma. Environmental factors, such as exposure to sun, wind, cold, chemicals, or cosmetics, or excessive bathing with harsh soaps, can cause dry skin. Only use organic cleansers or mild soaps if you must use a soap or cleanser. I use ayurvedic face cleanser from VERIA that is a blend of oat, almond and herbs. Coconut oil can be very useful to moisturize and soften your skin throughout the day.

You could also try Aloe Vera cream, it is also very good. Stay away from soap, it is just too harsh.
