I am wondering what is going on. A rash of dead otos and froggies? From a great momma like Nan? Maybe check the water. it's possible your area started adding chloramines or something to the water supply, which would account for a lot.

I'm ok, just sad. Bashful was fine as long as he was in Pinky's tank. I suspect that his tank has cycled, and so has Sweetie's, but the two new ones haven't. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I have to admit I'm feeling like a very bad froggie mom as well as a bad oto mom today. :angel:

Well, I lost F'lar.

He had been battling a strange fungus thing...along with ick. Don't know what happened to get that started, his tank was nice and clean, he had been eating well and all when I noticed a white fuzzy spot growing on his head. Went through the bettafix/salt thing..didn't help much so I went to the stronger meds. I had been treating him for about 2 weeks...doing my best to keep his water clean without interfering with the medication treatments. Then he came down with ick just when he was starting to do well....I think that last ick treatment did him in. He rallied a bit a few days ago and I thought he was going to be ok...but last night I knew it was pretty much over for him. Checked him this am and and poor fella was gone. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

He was such a pretty fish, I'll miss him...he's fertilizing the planter on my front steps right now.

Wow, I just realized...all these fish and he is only the first one I've lost! I guess that's not too bad considering.

It cheers me up to know that Jax is finally in his new tank. Put him in this past weekend and so far all looks well. He has an ADF in there for company..I'll wait awhile then maybe get him a cory cat. One fish in a 2 gallon somehow doesn't seem like enough...we'll see.

Emg, I am really sorry about F'lar! He never really got over being separated from his fry, eh? Maybe one of his sons will be just like him. I liked that fish of yours...but I'm glad it wasn't Jaxom you lost. :angel:

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you come up with a Fla'r jr too...not the same but would be pretty neat. It is so hard when you can't explain what it is that went wrong.

I liked F'lar, he was a very pretty fish..what a flashy tail he had, but...Jax is my bud!

I think what he had was just a very stubborn fungus..what did him in was all the meds I was using to try to get rid of it, and then that ick showed up on top of that. Anyway, I"m sure the flowers in my planter are going to be Gorgeous this summer! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm so sorry you lost F'lar. You did absolutely everything you could for him, and maybe his daddy duties were more than 1 fish could handle, seems like he was sick ever since. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I hope your flowers are as beautiful as he was! :angel:

The loss of anything that we are responsible for is always hard on the soul. I think anyone on this forum has the heart to do the best they can do for creatures in their care. Just by reading others experiences it has really helped my aquatic family. Thanks to you all, and sorry for all of your losses. :angel: Stacie
