You're very welcome, Angie. I'm glad it worked out for you. Regarding the ribbon and bead, maybe a simple knot through the bead and then you could tie a bow in the ribbon that would cover the knot? Good luck with it! Post photos here if you'd like.

I'm still thinking about how to resolve the ends of the ribbon. I have a couple of weeks before I need the bag.

Indeed, if the anticipated force on the jump ring is not too high and its thickness is large enough, there is no need to solder the ring. For example, I've used 0.9 mm (approximately 19g.) non soldered jump rings to hold the pendants in the archer necklace below. This is secure enough as there is no way for the rings to open spontaneously...

Hi, I bought a pair off split ring pliers. Not too expensive around $6.00 @ Michaels. The tip of the pliers is bent and you poke it into the ring so they open up. sure saves the fingernails lol. I always use split rings, I find them more reliable than jump rings. I don't know how to solder either.

Funny about that comment about fingernails - The other night I was trying to open the split ring gracefully but it kept popping across the room! I'll have to look for that tool although the last time I used a jump ring it worked; true, it was a larger gauge ring than I normally have but it worked.
