I noticed that when a woman gets sick with the flu or something everyone assumes it's pregnancy. If I tell my friends that I don't feel good they ask if I'm pregnant. I had the flu for 2 days this year and my boyfriend was scared that I was pregnant.(I'm on the pill.) It's not fair that when women get sick, that pregnancy first comes to mind and we fear the worst has happended so we go to the doctor or nearest store to find out if we are pregnant Alot goes thru your head when your barfing in the toilet- if I'm pregnant what about my job, school, family etc or will this flu just be over in a few days.Men just wonder when they can get back to work or the bar.Men don't even have to worry about it, they know that it's just the flu and it will eventually pass.Just had to put my gripe of the day out there.

I completely agree with you! A few months ago I was at work, and felt a little dizzy. I took a break to sit down for a moment, and when I felt better, I returned to half of my co-workers convinced I was pregnant! I was very annoyed at them. Can't a person just be sick?

Also, when i say that my stomach is feeling upset my friends and boyfriend put their hand on my stomach to "see if I am pregnant". They joke that "they can feel it kick". To me that's not funny. If my stomach isn't feeling well I certainly don't want them touching it. I wouldn't put my hands on their stomach when they aren't feeling well and joke that it's a tumor or something. Just let me be sick please.

OK, that is pushing it! I can't believe the nerve of these people! I think a swat on the hand is justified here.

OMG thank you so much for starting this post! Today I had such a bizar experience.... I told my co-worker that I had to go to the hospital for something (they don't need to know whatfor right?) when I got back, his first reaction was: "Is it true, are you expecting a little one finally (what the.... just because I am 31 doesn't mean I want to have children) and then he touched my stomach and put his ear on it! Really, I told him in a very clear way I did not want that at all and that being pregnant would be the worst thing in the world for me. I was so angry.

Ewwww! These people are totally out of control! I have also had this experience, ever since high school! Who the hell assumes pregnancy for every symptom from dizziness to nausea to a head cold?

It is especially disturbing that people think it's fine to lay their hands all over you. Touching somone's hand is one thing - going for their mid-abdomen is quite another (in my mind). If a guy said his stomach hurt, women don't start caressing his abdomen and putting their heads against it. Can you even imagine??

It's ridiculous! It's like you can't be ill without everyone jumping to that conclusion. One time at university I had a nasty stomach infection thing which made me throw up every day for a couple of weeks. I then had to go and see a specialist and get it sorted which meant missing a day of lectures. When I got back everyone assumed that I'd been pregnant and the 'specialist' had actually been a visit to the abortion clinic!
