Hi...I'm new to this forum and I'm loving it. Here's my issue...I went to the hospital today for a hysteroscopy, D&C, then ablation with ThermaChoice (balloon ablation). Long story short, the ablation did not happen because my uterus is enlarged to the point that proper contact could not be made with the ballon and the endometrial lining. The options presented to me are 1): try ablation again with the novasure, with which size doesn't matter (:0). The only problem with this is that I would have to use a different doctor at a different hospital, because my gyn doesn't use this system. The other option is 2): hysterectomy. I'm 44, suffer from periods lasting months, with flooding and clots, and I'm done having children. Should I just get it over with once and for all with a hysterectomy??? I welcome all opinions and experiences. Please help!! Thanks, Laura

Laura,

I am so sorry to hear your procedure did not happen. I had a hysteroscopy, D&C and Novasure 9-08. Everything went great for me. I have been period free ever since. My only concern is that the uterine lining can regenerate depending on your age. I am 45 and would cry if my period were to return. If I had been given the option of a hysterectomy I would have seriously considered it. Once the uterus is gone there is definetly no chance of bleeding again. I think you have to look deep inside to figure out what is best for you. They can take the uterus but leave the ovaries therefore not sending you into early menopause. Its alot to think about but something in my opinion I feel you should seriously consider. I hope this helps. I wish you the best!

HI LAURA, SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SITUATION. I'M 67 AND HAD MY HYSTERECTOMY AND A BLADDER REPAIR WHEN I WAS 36 YRS OLD AND IT WAS THE BEST THING I DID FOR THE FIBROID TUMORS AND FALLEN BLADDER PROBLEMS. THEY REMOVE EVERYTHING BUT MY OVARIES. I HAVEN'T HAD A PERIOD SINCE I WAS 36 AND I HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE OTHER PROCEDURE YOU MENTIONED, BUT THE HYSTERECTOMY I HAD SOLVED MY PROBLEM. I WISH YOU THE BEST AND I'M SURE WITH YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR THE CHOICE MADE WILL BE THE BEST FOR YOU. BEST WISHES, GWEN

I am 36 yrs old and went to the dr. last week to discuss what my options were. I was set up to have a hysterectomy, but cancelled due to a family emergency. I felt like the hysterectomy would not solve my problem so I was wanting to talk about a hysterectomy. My dr. sent me to a another dr. that would do both of these procedures. She told me about novasure, it sounds good, but I would like to here from someone that had this done over a year. I have heard that you could start bleeding and cramping worse than before. Thanks

Hi jaudon, Its been 14 months for me! I am blood free so far. Crossing my fingers that it continues. I am 45, still experience period symptoms every month - mild cramping, sore breasts - same as before Novasure with the exception of no blood. I am thrilled with my results. Good luck!

If your uterus is enlarged novasure wouldnt work for you. You need a normal shape and size for the novasure proceedure. Many women are disappointed because o tool didnt reach the whole uterus and still bleed bad.I advice you to look at novasure.com website to see the shape of the wand it is my understanding that the ballooon is better for that so I dont get why they would suggest novasure.
