New Article

Yes, it is hard to believe but 9 states plus the District of Columbia allow discrimination against victims and survivors of domestic violence.

What is wrong with those people!! What if it was their mother, grandmother, or even a brother. I was abused for many years (too many) I find this appauling. We have to figure out how to fight this somehow. It makes me sick they think this way! Angry in NY, Linda

Wow I just saw that article and first I have to say it's an excellent article Jeanette. Second, that is a very scary idea! How can they hold "being abused" against you??

People in those states should definitely start calling.

This article has woken some people up apparently. I don't understand how they are getting away with this either but there is a huge campaign with the National Domestic Violence hotline and several other well known national agencies that are putting pressure on the governments of these states. It is repulsive to think someone could be laying in their home right this moment in one of these states who can't go to the hospital in fear of losing their insurance or not being about to get insurance in their future.

Jeanette,
Great article!
It's becoming so that more victims of domestic violence will not go for help, especially because of laws such as this. It's already hard enough to gather the courage to seek help from abuse, but with things like this, it's even harder.

What has the world come to? This is really sad. My mom is a victim of verbal abuse from my dad. Good thing we are far away from him already but still for those who are still suffering from it?? We can't find any decent social justice nowadays.
