Does anyone know who makes a conceler that doesn't clump up into the fine lines under your eyes?

Are you looking for a drugstore brand or a more expensive department store brand?

I think sometimes concealer gets the little lines because too much is used or too heavy a concealer is used. I also think concealer is one product that you should choose carefully and be willing to spend a little money on, especially if you have very dark circles.


Try Select Cover Up by MAC Cosmetics (about 18.00). Use a brush to blend it and you can mix in a little bit of eye cream for a better finish.

Or try Maybelline New York Cover Stick Corrector Concealer (about 7.00)

One thing I just learned about concealers is that you put it on after the foundation and blend it in. That way you can see what hasn't already been covered up.

BTW - it was at the MAC counter that I learned this trick!

And using a makeup brush really does make a big difference as opposed to a sponge. The sponge pushes it INTO the lines while the brush whisks it on top of them and keeps it light and covered up.

Thanks, I meant to add that tip too. Conventional wisdom advises to put concealer on first, but the results are better if the foundation goes on first. This applies to blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick also. It is called foundation for a reason!

And I am huge fan of brushes as opposed to sponges, applicators, etc. The idea is to keep the makeup sitting lightly on the skin, not forcing what is essentially dirt into your pores.

One thing to remember is that what goes underneath the concealer is as important as the item itself. Here's my input:

When you are choosing the product, look for something that is formulated for mature skin. It should leave a smoother finish. Read the package and make sure it says moisturizing or hydrating somewhere in the description.

A good eye cream/moisturizer beneath the concealer can make a huge difference here. The ones I recommend:

Shishedo's Future Solutions eye and lip cream. It's a little pricy, but goes a very long way and makes your skin feel silky. I use and love this one.

Bioelements Moisture x10. It's basically a hylauronic acid gel, which is in no way an exfoliating product, and it really makes your skin feel good. This is another one of my favorites, and it's reasonably priced as well Use it sparingly, just dot lightly around the eye area, and let it sit a moment while you apply foundation or brush your hair, etc.

My concealer of choice is Christian Dior.

Thanks for all tips. I see that I haven't been following any of the rules displayed on here. What brand of make up brushes would you recommend?

Clump up happens when your sweating and oil comes out. It depends on the skin type. I usually put primer then the concealer and then foundation. It helps to cover the lines without making it obvious that your wearing makeup. One product i can recommend and (oprah and tyra are also recommending) also is model in the a bottle. Its really useful for mascaras and also for concealers as well.
