Spent 1.5hrs "shutting down" the garden, putting away tomato cages, stacking the pots. I have a usable back porch again!

Are you guys all in the final stages? I left the brussels sprouts (6 plants) in case they finally do make sprouts. I also left a few herbs - basil, rosemary, chamomile, sage. We already took our 5 pepper plants inside (they're in containers) to try to get them to go from green to red.

Tucked our garden in last weekend as a heavy frost was predicted and the weather people were correct so glad I did. Tomato cages are stacked and in the barn and all produce made it inside. Out of control weeds and plants have been mowed down, sproutless brussels and all. Looking forward to a bit of warm up this coming week and hope to lime and rototill to complete garden chores for the year - whew!! Lots of work but well worth it - had our first acorn squash with dinner - delish!!

You should know how to plant indoors. I can see that you like to grow plants. Change in season should not stop from what you love to do. I have challenge myself to grow plants especially herbs indoors because they are very useful. --------- growing herbs indoors ---------

I put my garden to bed a few weeks ago, but I know that I am forgetting something. Always do and will find those pots or cages somewhere by my little garden shed. But that is what spring is for. When the weather is nice and I can go outside again and find all those things I forgot to put away.

Ohhh, I can hardly wait.

Hey, Lisa, hope your brussel sprouts make it all right.

We had the killing frost about a week ago, and I have cleaned out the garden. Many leaves need to be raked off the front lawn
this week and dumped onto the garden. My 40+ house plants all came in about a month ago and have acclimated to being indoors again. Having that indoor garden makes the long northern Indiana winter easier to bear.

Fortunately I don't have to pack in my garden, our winters are not that cold.

We don't have to shut down our gardens for the winter season here in the Houston, TX area. My mom does in Kansas, and I know it takes lots of work.

Our winters can be tough here but sometimes they will be mild through T'giving. We have no gardens during the winter months.

At 3,000 feet in AZ we get mildly freezing nights and above-freezing days in the winter. So my garden is full of winter hardy plants that keep growing and doing their thing.

I am surprised the lettuce is doing so well! Also my herbs. The carrots and potatoes are slow growing but hanging in there. My fruits trees are actually setting buds. smile

I keep thinking of planting radishes just to see what happens. They like the cold and are mostly protected by being root crops. And speaking of which, the garlic and onions seem to be quite happy and snug!
