Swine flu is in the news but it seems that people in the US who are getting it are only getting a very mild case. Before everybody panics, there are natural things you can do to protect yourself by boosting your immune system.

If you keep your immune system in peak condition, you'll have less allergies, colds, flu or even more serious illnesses.

There are foods you can add to your diet to boost immunity, herbs and supplements you can take. I did an article for my health blog on boosting the immune system naturally and it's good for use anytime, not just during scares about the flu.

Natural Ways to Boost Your Immune System

If anyone has any favorite immune boosting remedies, maybe they could add them too.

Great herb choices, I have most of them at home for teas, infusions and making tinctures along with a homeopathic cabinet too. What I haven't used is the Calli tea, I'm interested, what's the flavor like?

I swear by the Black Elderberry in pill form. I got this from Dr. Sam Benjamin. He is one of the best MD/consumer advocates in the country. We listen to him in Phoenix on his radio show Primary Care. Here is Dr. Benjamin's Swine Flu advice.

Hello, My wife is a huge fan of garlic. She cannot conceive the kitchen without it. One of the benefits of the garlic is preventing cold and flu because of its antibiotic effect. Just an example - This winter both I and my daughter caught the flu. Our symptomps lasted for about two weeks, but she only had a minor cold for a couple of days. Raw garlic contains multiple compounds and antioxidants including organosulfur compounds which are responsible for anti microbial functions, this is why raw garlic is best for fighting bacterial and fungal infections. When crushed, raw cloves releases allicin, which has been shown to be a more potent antibiotic than penicillin and tetracycline.

I use raw, crushed garlic every time I feel a cold or sore throat tickle and it always takes it away so I rarely ever get sick.

I think with all the flu germs around, it's especially important to stick to all of our immune boosting remedies.

Sorry, I just saw the question about Calli Tea. It actually doesn't have much taste. I get the mint flavor, which is just a slight hint of mint.

The best way to handle the flu season is to eat a diet that keeps your immune system at its best. A diet of 50-80% veggies and fruits will keep you strong and lean throughout the winter.

I just noticed the question regarding Calli Tea also. I've been using it for cleansing for about 10 years and I think it's the one thing I do consistently that's kept me from getting colds and flu.

I also eat lots of fruits and veggies, take vitamins and exercise but I do have faith in my Calli tea for cleansing.

I did a free Calli Tea report if anyone would like me to send it to them.
