my daughter has asthma - she was tested for allergies, and the tests all came back negative. A lot of children where I live (Fairbanks, AK) have asthma. Locally there is a huge air quality concern here.
We manage DD's asthma with a combination of medication and daily peak flow monitoring. Knowing triggers helps (respiratory infections, cold air, and mold). Exercise is really good for people with asthma. Sometimes those newly diagnosed are concerned they can't exercise or shouldn't strain themselves.
I think it is frustrating for the newly diagnosed, trying to identify the tirggers and learning what works best for them to manage. By tracking your peak flows and symptoms, you can learn a lot.
