Hi,

Since the FDA has approved 3 medications to treat fibromyalgia, have you been helped by Savella?

I was taken off Cymbalta and put on Savella almost two months ago. I am asking my pain management doc's PA, this Friday, to switch me back. I am more depressed, and in more pain than I was on Cymbalta. Surely, it will work better for some, as we are all unique, but for me, I want to go back on Cymbalta. At least I wasn't as depressed, although there is MUCH more going on in my life now than there was prior to the switch. I'm presently on short term disability, and have Chronic Myofascial Pain, as well as Fibro, which typically go hand in hand anyway. Lots of myofascial trigger point release work has been taking place, both by manipulation via my physical therapist, and by injection via my Osteopath. I have to continue to think positive, as negative thoughts are the enemy. I will get better, although I AM a realist, and continue to try to accept that fact that I will have to find a way to live with both diagnoses my entire life. Just thought I'd respond to your question...

I felt better within a week. You have to put up with nausea until on full amt. for a while. Everyone says a full month before giving up. I am not feeling bruised all over. Energy level has improved. After 4 days I felt like my mind was fresh and clear again. Still fighting Fibro rash but fibro feet don't hurt any more. I luv it!!!!!!!!

I too was taken off Cymbalta and put on Savella. I did have the nausea for a while not anymore. I have been on it around 2 months it has cut my pain meds down from 6 a day to 4 a day and sometimes 3. I too have become more depressed and just a general tired feeling. My doctor added a low dose antidepressant to go with the Savella and that has helped. At first when I started on the Savella I had a burst of energy but it didn't last long. I am not as depressed since adding the extra med but I do not have the energy I had ?

I was diagnosed with fibro about a year and half ago. I have tried Cymbalta and Lyrica. I had very bad reaction to both, almost deadly reaction. My doctor gave me samples of Savella the other day, I really want to try it but I am very scared I will have a bad reaction to it also. Does anyone know the chances of being allergic to all three? I desperately need some relief as you all know, but I am really afraid. Any advice?

Sorry you had such a bad experience with the first 2 I had no problem with Cymbalta, like it really better than Savella but I don't know what the chances are of being allergic to all three. I would look up the ingridents of all three and compare if possible to understand them, good luck and take care.

It depends on the type of reaction you had. If it's the meds itself, it may be the same because Cymbalta and Savella work on the same brain chemicals.

I have been on Savella for about 2 1/2 months now and so far it has at least taken care of the "feeling like I've been run over by a mack truck" syndrome. I can't say that my depression is any better, but I chalk that up to it being winter and I don't see much sunshine. I'm a person that HAS to see sunshine every two or three days or I go nearly out of my mind! Still having some problems sleeping, though and I need to remember to mention that to my doctor.
