I guess I am in a particular unique situation, I am in expat living abroad, and the "foreign wife" pool here is already small, then add to the fact that I don't want, particularly don't like being around children... makes it worse. I was feeling rather furious that I am or I feel that I am shunned that I don't have nor want to breed (I may want to parent sometime in the future but that isn't a goal for me right now). I know I did not feel so isolated back home (in the US) but here? Blech! I guess I am here looking for friends baring the same interest in mine MNK.

I feel for you, GT. Been there, done that. Hopefully you enjoy your job, and can fill your off hours with things you enjoy doing. Travel and visit interesting places, buy cool souveniers, and read a lot (an ebook that can download books will help a lot if you don't have access to a lot of english material). That's how I handled it.

Just keep smiling and don't let them get you down. It helps (a bit) to think of all the fun stuff you get to do that they miss out on because of their kids.

Good thinking on that Karen, I have been doing just that but I still get shunned because I don't fit their cookie cutter book of having a "kid", it should not bother me, but it does.....

Green Tea - Can I ever relate! I joined my husband last spring in a residential compound here in the UAE. I've never felt so isolated (after working and living in SF and Seattle) as well as ostracized because of my MNK status. Apparently my "4-legged child" (i.e., dog) doesn't qualify me as a person worth getting to know. Oh well. Besides reading, I work out in the gym (a lot) and figure once this assignment is over at least I might have a buff bod :) Hang in there!
