I work for an advertising firm. I have worked very hard to get where I am today. Possibly, striving and struggling for years has made me very complacent and my health has suffered. I seem to have become a chronic sufferer of minor ailments like headaches, sleep disorders, digestive problems and other stomach infections. Over the years, my health has declined and my passion for work has declined. Visits to doctors have not helped much. I guess I need to take a break and seek some inner healing. Can someone help?

I guess you have pushed yourself too far to achieve the milestones in your career. In the process, you have neglected your physical self and denied yourself the care and good health. It is never too late. Take heart. You can always bounce back with great health all over again.BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. I recently started seeing a new neurologist for my migraines. He made some suggestions to me byond just medications that no other doctor has ever made.

First he said I needed to get off all the over the counter pain meds. He said those, while not addictive, do tend to start a "pain loop" the body gets used to having them and becomes immune to them. They actually make pain worse after a while. The same with caffeine, he said I need to get off of that and increase my water intake. (I have a feeling that you are probably a caffeine junkie being in advertising. I have a friend that owns an advertising company in Atlanta, and I swear they would save money on coffe if they just hooked everyone up to a caffeine IV drip.)

He also said that I needed to get at least 30 minutes to an hour of fresh air a day. Sunny days are even more important. Also he wants me to start getting regular exercise. He said these 2 things will increase the levels of dopamine and endorphines in my system.

He did make some changes in my medications, but he is the first doctor I have ever been to that has not focused solely on medications. I will say that the first two weeks were horrid - I wanted to die. But now the headaches are slowly tapering off. I still have the migraines, but I am not having the other headaches in between the migraines.

We tried all of that with Preston (my 10 yo) at his neurologist's suggestion; but unfortunately his doctor wasn't looking at the bigger picture. We needed a pain management doc for that. Preston has a mishmash of headaches (classic occipital from his Chiari malformation, classic migraine, allergy headaches and classic tension headaches). We had to reduce his activity and put him on an RX med (periactin), add in low dose iron (he was deficient and that can cause headaches), add in magnesium and B-6/B-12, shift to a GFCF diet, and begin a pain protocol (give Tyleonol or IB at the onset of a headache at max dose, then alternate every 3 hours until gone--treat EVERY headach). He now has headaches once or twice a month--instead of 3 or 4 mighraine type headaches (severe) a week. We'd like to reduce that to one a month, but that's probably a pipe dream.

Hi guys, If you are suffering from severe headache over a period of time then you must take Imitrex tablet. This medication is used to treat migraine headache attacks once they occur. It is not effective in preventing migraines. This medication is not to be used for other types of headaches. One dose is taken by mouth at the first signs of a migraine attack.
