Hi,

Since the FDA has approved 3 medications for the treatment of fibromyalgia, what's everyone's take on Lyrica?

Hi Fibro Herbs!!!! i was hospitalized 3 weeks ago as i wanted to try and kill myself...the pain with the fibro and depression was too much!!!! i was put on Lyrica then and most of my pain is gone. thats not saying i dont have pain and the fog as i still do. The side affects are bad but the relief from some of the pain is great!! I am trying to be careful not to gain weight but so far i havent had any real side affects!!

I was on Lyrica for Fibro and had to stop taking it due to the horrible side effects. I gained about 30 lbs in 13 weeks on Lyrica. It does not matter what you eat or don't eat, the weight gain is due to fluid retention. Now that I have stopped Lyrica, I am on Cymbalta which does not seem to be as effective for the pain as Lyrica, but no weight gain yet. I am suffering horrible migraine headaches which I did not have one headache on Lyrica. My doctor has since prescribed Tramadol for the breakthrough pain and headaches, but it is not very good at all. I guess my search for the right combo of medications will go on for a while. hi - i am also on lyrica - but for my neuropathy. it does 'double-duty' in that it helps with the pain from fibro. if i did not take my lyrica, i would not be able to walk. so it helps in two ways. there is also weight gain - i also gained 30 pounds after losing 50 pounds. so the weight gain is tough.

I too have noticed weight gain...which I hate with a passion! I'm taking 150 mg Lyrica per day, 120 mg Cymbalta per day and 2000 mg gabapentin per day. Plus a TENS unit for any left over pain. This treatment seems to help, but I'm really fighting the depression because of the weight gain.

I take 150mg 2x a day and I could not live without it. I would be rolling in pain literally. caulbearer-why gaba and Lyrica? sounds like double of the same.
