I was just thinking about feeling down or losing movitation. I call them pity parties.

Do you think pity parties are helpful? If yes, how long should they last?

Any good pity party suggestions?

Thanks for participating!

I think that sometimes pity parties are helpful to get the negativity out of your system. As long as you don't get stuck and stay in that negative frame of mind for too long.

For me, personally, a day or two of pity party is more than enough!

I think there is a difference between feeling discouraged and having a "pity party".

I've always considered a pity party to be when you blame everyone and everything else for what is going wrong in your life and refusing to take any responsibility yourself.

Feeling discouraged, however, still sees utside influences, but also acknowledges what we ourselves have done and can do to make things better.

Pity parties are giving up, discouragement is taking a step back a deep breath and plunging in again.

To me a pity party is feeling sorry for myself for awhile and then going on. I give myself a day or two.

I try to go on in a positive way by listening to motivational CD's or reading a book I enjoy.

I want to make sure I don't get stuck in the negativity or allow the fear to drag me down and make me depressed. Getting out of depression isn't easy.

I never really thought about the term in regards to myself, but every so often a day comes that I cannot go anywhere, talk to anyone, or do a darn thing. I take those days and go back to bed. I guess those are my pity parties.
