Hi Jane!

Some really good ideas in there.

The water tip is THE most important beauty tip there is - period! Whether you are trying to be frugal or not. It is just a wonderful bonus that it is so cost effective.

My daughter is getting into modeling, and she had her first big photoshoot yesterday. The photographer made several comments about how smooth and perfect her skin was. Even without makeup she only had 1 tiny pimple that was really only a bump, not that red. I did not have to do hardly any cover up on her at all when applying her makeup. And she is an adolescent (12 and menstruating!)

The reason is because she has been drinking nothing but milk and water. It also makes her hair shinier and thicker, too.

Hair: if you just want a cut done - no color, check with beauty schools & cosmetology programs near you. The students quite often need live models to work on. I wouldn't be adventurous enough to do my color there, but a cut? Go for it!

Nails: they sell the 4 sided buffers at most WalMarts and durgstores. It has a side for filing, contouring, smoothing & bugging. your nails will be Smooth & shiny.

But I am going to disagree on the plucking your own eyebrows. Well, plucking is probably OK, but I advise against trying to wax your own eyebrows. It is very easy to wax too much and then wind up looking bald. Definitely stick to tweezers only and just to the area between the brows. If you want to go more shaped than that, this is one of the areas to splurge in - in my opinion at least. (Says the mother whose child shaved off her eyebrows in an attempt to make them even). crazy

Need a good toner- after shower splash? Mix 1/2 cup white vinegar with 1 cup water, 1 tablespoon witch hazel: Keep in a dollar store spray bottle. If you want it scented, any wild mint that is gently simmered with just enough water to cover will do nicely- use this in place of 1 cup of plain water.
