Today is of course quarterly tax day. Last year I was doing all right financially � this year, with the poor economy, not so much. I�m figuring with the amount I put in already for Q1 and Q2 that I�m ahead of the game by now and probably don�t even have to pay a Q3 to be even for the year to date. I�m opening up QuickBooks right now to try to figure that out.

Do any of the rest of you do that sort of figuring? Or do you just pay a quarter of last year�s burden this year and figure the government will give you back any overage eventually?

That sounds pretty fair. I think it's better to keep your money instead of hoping the government gives it back! :-)

I think that in this economy everyone is double checking. But, be careful if you decide to deviate from last years amounts by too much. If you make a mistake if you calculations, the IRS could force you to pay a penalty. You definitely don't want that!

Right that is very true, I don't want to make things worse with a penalty! I don't want to overpay either, though. Money is quite tight!

I'm late on this post but I pay up to the very last penny, no more, no less.
