Well, the whole dream was odd in itself, but what I do remember is a house like the one I live in now. Blond colored stone, split level (4 total), a back yard that's small w/garden I& concrete. That was not even the weirdest part. The weirdest part was I dreamed of a girl, she was to be my daughter I think, but looked nothing like me. She was talking randomly like most kids, but it was a Jersey accent. She first appeared with blond hair & dark roots, then as a brunette, but the breakthrough moment when she speaks to me is with hair so red it looked like painted flames. She was talking about life and lessons to be learned and then she hugged me & said I love you. Her freckles were as red as her hair too, and she was alabaster, & I'm black.....it was oddly comforting, just wish i could remember what she said in particular. She was a lengthy child too, I'd say 10 tops. And she was rail thin with hair to her butt. But it was her eyes, they were so penetrating, like she was reading me.... I have no kids if that helps. lol That's what made the dream odd to me. If anyone has some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert, lol, but I think that little girl was YOU. I know that her appearance is confusing, but maybe that part just wasn't as significant as what she was saying and the comfort and love and reassurance that she was giving you? Maybe it is just "you" telling yourself that you are A okay. :)

I actually agree with Shellgirl.

Our "inner self" can actually appear to us as sort of a negative image (like looking at a photo negative). It is more powerful that way. I have also heard of dreams where the "self" appears as the "all-woman" - flowing through many faces of women - connecting with women of all stages. It is not uncommon even to see the self go through many ages from childhood to "the crone".

But for you it sounds very much like you need to connect with something in your childhood, maybe just to make peace with something.

Instead of being disturbed about it, try to focus on the peace of it (because ot sounds peaceful to me).

You might try lying down tonight with some soft music or water sounds (water sounds mimic the womb sound and are very good for evoking memory) - and focus on that last picture you had of the little girl and the words she said. You might be able to get the dream back and make more sense of the other things she said to you.

Michelle has some good insight to your dream. Usually if one dreams about a child, it is your own inner child that is either trying to tell you something you are overlooking, trying to find reassurance that love is there, trying to find acceptance, etc. Trying to bring the dream back, like Michelle suggests, may help you to re-connect with the child and embrace her. Embrace in a spiritual/psychological sense by imagining the child standing before you, reaching out and hugging her.

The color of the girl's skin could be showing truth and purity from within. The change of colors of the hair could be symbolic of major changes in life you have experienced. The blond hair/dark roots could be symbolic that an underlying truth has been ignored. Then the brunette brings out the truth and the red/flames could be expressing enlightment and growth.

In my experience dream children often represent some aspect of our authentic self (remember, we are a spirit, we only inhabit a body). Sometimes they represent undeveloped potential and/or relate somehow to our inner child. I used to dream often about my oldest daughter and couldn't understand why because I was much more like my second child, but when a dream therapist asked me what my life would be like if I WAS like the child in the dream - WOW! looking at that answer changed and improved my life.

I have also found it helpful to attempt to draw dream images if I am having trouble figuring out what they mean. Hope this is helpful.

I agree with Phylis and Michelle, usually children in a dream represent an aspect of yourself--the inner child. What I found interesting was that she spoke in a foreign accent...is nurturing your child-like spirit--foreign to you? And that she spoke to you of life and lessons to be learned. Are you going through a tough time that is bringing up some rough memories from your youth? No matter what you are telling yourself that you love yourself. Also a house generaly symbolizes "the mansion of your soul." So depending on where the dream takes place--say the bathroom is personal matters, the bedroom = intimacy, the basement - dark secrets etc...

If you've been doing some introspection, this may explain the dream and anytime you have a dream that's "very wierd" and you remember it, it's because you subconscious wants you to remember it and not have the ego explain it away.

In all it seems like a pretty cool dream.

The dream setting in this dream is your house or your current state of consciousness, which has several "levels". The backyard (how your relate to friends) has concrete and a garden, or solid and growing friendships. The young girls could suggest new aspects of your self that are growing and developing as you allow yourself to be a multi faceted person. Hair can represent our thoughts and powers of intuition, they are our "antenna". You may have a tough side (jersey accent, dark roots), the brunette representing someone who appeals to the masses, brown is probably the most common hair color, so thoughts for this personality would be non-confrontational, and the redhead, your fiery and passionate side of self. The "long hair" could be a another way of saying that your thoughts go deep. I think the dream is kind of a report card of your attitude about self and life and letting yourself express all sides to your personality without worrying about what others may think. ....Also the message that you are loved and need to love self. Freckles can represent the small things about oneself that makes us unique. just my thoughts
