When it comes to beauty, I've always wondered how important "Professional Advice" is to women and men. Lately more than ever, i've tried to look at a few professional beauty/health specialists like this one itsaglamthing.com/pro-advice.php. "I know everyone knows I love itsaglamthing!" But i'm not sure how I feel about it compared to my own ideas and that of my friends and family. Just putting it out there...
Do you rely on professional advice to complete your perfect look?

I've had just the opposite experience with "beauty professionals."
It has been my experience that the pros know their product line, and what they want to sell; but they don't know me, my skin or my taste in cosmetics. They don't really listen to what effect I want to create, they want to push product. I've had much better results with reading labels and trying things on my own.

I think it depends on who the pro is, there are some pro's who have no clue and some pro's who know what their talking about. YOu need to take what info you can and if you can use it great, if you can't forget it.

If your talking about pro advice re: products, then its really a matter of personal taste each pro might have what they consider the best moisturizer in the universe you have to find what works for you.

I agree - most professionals are just trying to sell you their product! Word of mouth from friends and families is always best in my opinion, or befriending a professional at your local store lol...

The key is getting a professional who is a specialist with extensive experience and training in the area you need help with.

My specialties are skin care, hair color, ethnic hair, current trends, makeup, and body hair removal. I don't dare try telling someone I am an expert in vridal hair or massage, bodywork or something like that.

The key is research and having a relationship with the professional you are extracting expertise from. However, I also say to take professional adivce as that... advice. Only you can make the final decision and take action.

This is the key to getting the most out of any professional. A one time stop may or may not result in worthwhile advice. The pro knows their business and may hit on the one thing that helps you, but you will benefit most by sticking with one professional so that they get to know you and your skin, hair or whatever.
