After years and years of being told I should not have children because of Kindey Disease I have finally decided to have my tubes tied at 27. There is a procedure called Essure that is an alternative to the surgery and is also permanent. I was wondering if anyone else has had it done. And if so any thoughts.
I know that a lot of people have used this method and it is supposed to be pretty reliable. I can't have it because of a nickel allergy. Small nickel spirals are inserted into the fallopian tubes and the procedure is done vaginally rather than via laprascopy. The spirals block the tubes and tissue grows around them making the passage of an egg impossible.
The only downside that I've heard, apart from the nickel issue, is that insertion is extremely uncomfortable. It can be done by a doctor on an out-patient basis.
I had looked into this. I discussed it with my dad ( i know that sounds funny, but he's a medical professional). He said it was, "too new." Anyway, I have a nikel allergy. It sounds like the best option though, much less invasive.
