Tell me about your pearls.... did your grandmother leave them to you? Did you pick them out yourself?? Did you get them as a gift?? I'd love to hear about them!!

My pearls were a gift from my parents upon my graduation from college, now over 50 years ago. I still have them and wear them every now and then, unlike most of my other "important" jewelry which I have passed down to my various daughters.

My first strand of pearls was an accidental gift. At the age of 10 my Aunt was supposed to send me the bracelet and another of her nieces, much older than me, the necklace. She got the packages mixed up and I got the necklace. After I had already seen it (I was a jewelry hog even then) and hearing how thrilled I was she didn't have the heart to switch them.
They were purchased in Japan from a high end jeweler by my Uncle who was a Pan Am co-pilot at the time and was able to get fabulous deals on jewelry. That was 1968. Of course, I still have them and only recently, after buying AAA pearls direct from Chinese Pearl Farms have realized the value of the pearls I have. I still love them.
