I grew up in a time when there was always a cup of tea on the brew. A cup of tea 'fixed' everything!
Mostly I think it was the act of making the tea and sitting and talking that gave the 'breather' we were looking for. It was an opportunity to look at things from another perspective - and then hopefully make the right decision or at least think things through more thoroughly.
