I got some of these and planted them around the house. These are on our front steps. Are these marigolds? Or something else?

Those are marigolds. Be sure to let the birds harvest their seeds in the fall. I raised a nest of sparrows last summer with the mother feeding on my marigolds every morning. I didn't have to deadhead them until the babies left the nest.

Wow, a double benefit! So I have lovely flowers all around the house, and the birds get fed too!
