This Siberian Iris - "Butter and Sugar" - just came into bloom on the edge of our pond. It's one of my favorites.

And, since Iris Sibericus "Butter and Sugar" has no calories or detrimental nutritional effects, you can indulge yourself in its beauty all you want!

Those are lovely photos! Do you do anything special to care for them, or do they sort of take care of themselves?

Oh, yes, Lisa! The Siberian Iris is about as carefree and easy as they come. And, the grass-like foliage is so green and graceful all summer and fall, it makes a great backdrop for other plants. Ive only had purple ones until I planted two butter and sugar (or so I thought) last fall. The other one just started to bloom and here it is

Hmmm , there seems to be a difference in the two irises. So I looked it up. My book says this one is butter and sugar and the first one is king of kings eek !

I also planted a dogwood in the fall that was supposed to be a white Cherokee Princess, but it turned out to be a red Cherokee Chief. Oh well, I guess growers can surprise us just like Mother Nature.

But to me, the first Iris looks like a lot of sugar with a little butter, while the second resembles a lot of butter with a little sugar. Whatever, theyre both yummy a feast for the eyes!

Those are beautiful!!! Where do you buy them? And what time of the year can they be planted? I'm in Florida and it's very hot and humid. Do you think they would do well in this enviroment?
