When I got a divorce I was a stay at home mom. It is really scary to get a divorce after having been out of the workforce for a lot of years, having no real education, and having three small kids that need child care.

A good friend of mine from the past contacted me recently we haven't talked for years. So when she sent me an update of her life she asked me to do the same. When I was writing the email back, it became somewhat long, and then I realized "Wow look at all I have done!"

Due to writing that email I was sitting here reflecting on everything that has happened since I got a divorce in 1999 and I hardly recognize my former self or life! It's a little crazy.

Pre Divorce I was a stay at home - Home schooling mom of three.

After Divorce I went to college and graduated, went out to work, dated(eventually), remarried, gained a step daughter, started writing for BellaOnline (not necessarily all in the correct order), started my radio show, started a VA business (Virtual Assistant), and oh so much more.

My new-self cannot even remember what it was like to be my former self. The thing is, had you asked me in 1998 whether I would be happy doing all the things I now do, I would say NO WAY. But guess what, I am HAPPY, more than happy. I am almost delirious with happiness these days.

If I could get over my back pain, life would almost be perfect.

I thought my life before was perfect too.

Am I just am optimist or is it really possible to completely change your life, your goals, your beliefs, ambitions, etc... become a different person almost entirely?

I'm curious about all of you. Tell me, if you're just starting this process what scares you most.

If you're experiencing the things I have, that change is good, tell me about that too. I want to know about your lives and how this divorce is affecting you, good and bad.

I wasn't a stay-at-home mom when I got divorced (no kids here), but I look back at who I was then and who I am now, and it's hard to believe the difference. I think no matter what, we change.

When you're given a second chance, it's hard not to change dramatically. The change hurts a lot at first, but it's like refining a precious metal. It has to go through the fire to become stronger.

You are doing awesome! I love reading how much things have changed and how great you're doing. smile
