Hi Angie, I've been using Tweetdeck for awhile, it's an independent application that reads from your Twitter feed, and lets you group the people you follow, so that you can read feeds organized that way. So for example, I have a Buddhism group that includes all the people I follow with Buddhist interests, and a group of fellow spiritual bloggers, and another of book lovers, one of actual 'real life' friends and family, and one of newsalerts and things. They all display in columns within Tweetdeck simultaneously and make it much easier to select out who I actually want to read Tweets from.

This is a great topic. I talked about it here in the thread called What Twitter Applications Do You Use? PLease take a look there - I am running out the door right now! But tweetdeck is awesome once you have more than 50 people you follow. smile

Yes, I have TweetDeck. Love it. I'm just learning how to do things with it and it's way better than having to read through all the posts to get to the few I really want to read.

Yeah i love it. You can change the color out from that gothic black if you like - mine is now a pretty blue background.

Please provide some insight into setting up TweetDeck. Tips would be greatly appreciated.

After talking with Jilly I am making a concerted effort to "read" Twitter again. I had completely given up because a few individuals were completely taking over my Twitter feeds with millions of posts and those posts made it completely unusable to me because I couldn't follow all the other people I was interested in.

I am happy that TweetDeck now lets me follow my 5 accounts all at once, which is great. Also, they let me post to multiple accounts at once which is really helpful. I have four separate accounts - on low carb, gaming, wine, and BellaOnline. Then I have my "master" account which has all tweets I make on it so someone who wants to see everything I post can read in that one spot. So the TweetDeck setup makes it easy to maintain that.

However, right now my five feeds to "read" are all "all friends" in each group which just can't work. Those certain posters who post millions of posts every minute wipe out my ability to follow anyone else. So I want to put them aside in my live feed so I can actually read what other people are doing. However when I try to make a group it only shows all feed members in my "wineintro" group. When I click on other groups it doesn't show any members at all. So I can't in essence make a group of "everybody but these 3 people".

Can anyone give help with this?

One of the bugs with tweetdeck is that you can't add anyone to a list of they have not tweeted recently. So for me I just have to keep working on updating my lists, as different people go back to twitter at different times.

For you, Lisa, you should probably make a list of "frequently tweeting editors" and "Once a day editors"...that would clean up your feeds a great deal.

For me, I have a separate category for for personal friends, one for networking acquaintances, one for news outlets, one for humor type follows (like Darth Vader, the cast of Firefly and Buffy, Fake Bill Clinton), one for big name bloggers/internet marketers...

That's the beauty of Tweetdeck. You organize it as you see fit. My personal friends one is the snallest list, but indeed the one i find most compelling.

Hi Lisa,I was with tweetdeck for about 6 months, but found it cumbersome and slow loading. I just changed to Seesmic which I find clear and simple...I'll post how it goes...
