I would like to make octagon placemats. Does anyone know of a free pattern available or is there one someone has made for ie. an afghan with few holes that is very workable? Thanks so much in advance.

The easiest way is to do a circle and do 8 sc in it, join with slip stitch. CH 1, do 2 sc in each ch, join with slip stitch. CH 1, do 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next sc, continue in pattern, join with slip stitch. CH 1, do 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 2 sc; continue in pattern, join with slip stitch. CH 1, do 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 3 sc; continue in pattern, join with slip stitch. Continue this until you've reached the size you want. I'm at lovcya@leoncountyfl.gov if you have any questions.
