some dogs while out tearing about sometimes hurt themselves to breaking toes pulling muscles and limping. if the dog keeps lifting its paws and feet off the ground its time to investigate for there could be anything wrong from puncture wounds in the pads to split webs and lameness. i always solved the problem of lameness by - fomentation? place the dogs foot in a bucket of hot water, make sure the temperature is ok, and leave it in for a couple of minutes, then take the foot back out and put it into another bucket of cold water with ice cubes in and leave for a minute , then back into the hot water for two minutes and back into the cold water for a minute - do this 3 times and then rest the dog, repeat proceedure again the next two days . make sure the dog is not walked and keep it rested. all my racing dogs responded to this proceedure and were back in racing in no time.

Same here Lawrence we have three staffies and my english bull who has to live upstairs with me, think he is jealous he is not a staffy lol.
I had him at five and half weeks and he is with me all the time, I think I probably miss him more than he misses me when I go away.
And thanks for the hot/cold tip, Murphy Jones our 10 year old staff is always twisting his front paw when he is charging about outside with a branch in his mouth. He always ends up with a limp.
The English seems to always hurt his left back leg when he is charging about after his beloved balls. He always carries two at a time in his big mouth.
Hope they all enjoyed the beef and happy 6th birthday to the doby.

thanks linda, the doby loved it, ive got to watch her though she has a lipoma which is a benign tumour just behind her right leg at the side of her chest, its common in female dobermanns and other large breeds im treating her myself the vet knows i know what im doing and has agreed with me, lipomas are fatty tissue type lumps and are harmless really they very rarely turn malignent.

Murphy Jones has one of those in the same place as your dog but on the left. It seems to get bigger if he puts on weight and gets smaller if he loses some. Is that just my imagination lawrence?

no linda this is exactly what happens? the lump goes bigger one moment and smaller again. flaxseed capsules, lethicin capsules and a digestive enzyme is what im using to shrink it down and cutting her food intake also, if you have any other problems with your dogs and i can be of a help to you linda just post me a reply . lawrence

bull terriers always seem to get a bad name due to the pit bull breed, anyone delving in dog fighting for money should face a long sentence in jail. the english bull terriers history comes from the bulldog and the now extinct english terrier, the latter being the breed that made up a whippet which was an english terrier x manchester terrier. the british bulldog was bred into greyhounds for stamina , the bulldogs breathing though was never really good, there are stories about english bull terriers saving peoples lives on many occasions the same is for the dobermann and the german shepherd, all dogs are basically the same when we bring them up properly - what would we do without them.

all dogs benefit from vegetables in their diet and brown bread, if they are fed only on meat they are not as good in health? carbs are for energy and protein is for muscle repair and build. if the dog doesnt have much excercise and is a couch potato as some are lol, then a little carb food instead of a lot is best. you could comb your hair in the shine on our dogs coats i think the diet we have for them is unequalled , i always give them fresh meat every day, they wouldnt eat tinned stuff, besides i like to know what they are eating.

Avoderm Oven Baked varieties don't have any potatoes, poultry, carrots, or soybean listed online in the ingredients.
I've been feeding my fussy lab mix Avoderm for years - his stomach and skin problems have gotten a lot better - although dry weather and stress are factors also.
Good luck!
