I have 3 mulberry trees that are loaded with mulberries & was wondering if anyone makes mulberry wine. How hard is wine making?

How big are your feet? laugh I believe that is the best way(just teasing). If you have small feet, I will come over and help you.

I would love to learn to make fruit wines, too. Is Mulberry wine a sweet wine? Do you have a recipe for it? I like fruity dessert wines. I had a kit years ago and never quite got the hang of using it. I would like to know the best way to make wines.

Well, I wouldn't say my feet were big, but they aren't small either lol! I do have bad feet though, so walking barefoot is a problem for me. I have had a bunion surgery on both feet and last year broke my ankle and so if I have to stomp on fruit that may not be the hobby for me lol. And those mulberries would stain your feet purple. For sure that would be funny to explain to people! No, I don't have a recipe, was just wondering if anyone made wine here.

While we were traveling in Portugal in the Douro Valley, they explained that is the best way to crush the grapes, with your feet. They now have pressers that emulate the stomping action.

Hi Connie...I've never made Mulberry wine but we LOVE Mulberries and I'm looking for a place to purchase some trees to plant on the new homestead smile smile I've also heard about the feet for crushing grapes, it might stain but and be a mess but somehow sounds like a blast! Who would have ever thought that one would appreciate a fine beverage where feet have been used?! lol smile

Did anyone see that old "I Love Lucy" episode when they were in Italy? Lucy wanted to soak up some culture to get in a movie. When a man (who she thought was a producer) saw how big her feet were, he had her dress like one of the peasant women. She thought she was to be a star in a movie but found out she had to stomp the grapes with her feet. eek About 6 women were in the huge vat and they got in a big fight. laugh It was hysterical. Hmmm...aging myself here, huh?

Anyway - if anyone has a recipe for Mulberry wine, I would love to have a copy.

Yes, I remember that episode!

Sue, the trees came with the house. We have 4 of them and they are a big mess. The wind really blows here and most of the time they end up falling off the tree before they can even get ripe. Then it smells pretty stinky when it heats up! Oh and the worst thing is the purple bird poop that gets on your house, your car, I am always glad to see those mulberries go! But I thought wine might be interesting to make.
