I went to the doctor a couple of months ago with what I thought was a chest cold. Turns out that I was having an allergic reaction to the pollen in our region and was having an asthma attack. First time in my adult life for allergies or asthma since childhood. I later learned that women who are entering menopause may develop allergies for the first time, or childhood allergies may re-emerge -- these types of allergies are not limited to pollen but may include food allergies, etc. So, if you are experiencing any kind of changes that resemble allergies and are entering menopause, best to check this out with your doctor. I would enjoy hearing from others who have had this experience -- it might be a good topic for an informative article.
