I am as bummed as I can be that CBS canceled Without a Trace. One of my very favorite shows. I read that CBS had one slot left with both WAT and Numbers available and went with the cheaper-to-produce show.
Unfortunately, a number of untried shows are being added and a number of them will quickly be cancelled. Woe is me!
I agree about Without a Trace! We always DVR'd that one. I read that since the late night talk shows are moving to 10 pm, there is one hour less in the nightly schedule for dramas.
It all comes down to money-you're right. The new shows with untried stars who get lower pay or the reality shows are cheaper to produce.
I read someplace that there won't been very many big name stars on network TV soon. They make too much money.
