I'm new to the romance genre, but when my friend discovered that I started reading historical romances, he asked if maybe I'm a little lonely and in need of some "lovin'." However, when he reads one of his Star Wars books full of explosions and light-saber duels, I don't ask if maybe he's feeling a little lame lately and really needs to be a Jedi. Does anyone else come across these stereotypes about being a romance reader?

All the time, but my offline job is in a bookstore. <g> I hear all sorts of derogatory things about different genres almost on a daily basis. Most days, I just smile nicely and point out the positives in romance novels, but occasionally, someone will catch me in just the right mood for a debate. <eg>
