Our cats sure know how to train us, don't they? My Smokey comes running when the phone rings because she knows that she has me pinned down then and can demand all the petting she wants. Today I was talking on the phone but looking out the door at the beautiful yard instead of sitting at the table as usual. So Smokey began pushing things off the table to get my attention and get me away from the door. It worked!

Claybird, it doesn't take long for our furballs to figure out how to get what they want from us. Actually I think it makes them kinda smart...if they weren't they wouldn't put our actions together with what they want. Everytime I sit on the couch or chair my Simba jumps up and wants to lay on me. Guess I feel soft to him.

Dear WalkingGranny,

HA HA HA HA HA HA. How funny! Our cats love to walk over me. Pharoah loves to walk up to my face and lie just underneath it, and he bumps my head for kisses. This is done while I am lying in bed either reading a book or sleeping. Puma loves to walk up while I'm reading and interact with the book. Our cats sure do get our attention, don't they? :-)

Dear WalkingGranny and Claybird,

Puma and Pharoah love to lie in my lap while I'm sitting on the couch. They also have a way with human food I thought only dogs had. Puma climbs up on the dining room table and plays nonchalant at the other end of it. She sits there for awhile. Then she starts sneaking up, and she attacks when she thinks we're not looking. She loves to sniff the food on our plates. She doesn't eat it unless we give her a little meat. Pharoah is not as sneaky. He just goes for it. Like Puma, he doesn't eat anything unless we give him a bit. Today, we were having salmon for lunch so Pharoah was very interested. We stopped him from eating off our plates by giving him some of the salmon.

I know there are people who would just be appalled by all this, but we just put the cats down when they are getting too interested. We gave Pharoah the salmon, because we know it's too tempting for a cat to resist.

Walk In Balance,
Deer

Theresa, I do the same thing. My Xena sits by my plate and paws at what she wants to try...I give her a little and if she like it she gets more. As for other people..they aren't my constant companions.. or my family...my cats are. We share cuddles, food, the bed and the bathroom. This is their home. I do try to be considerate of mny guests and keep the cats away from the food if I have dinner guests, but if I'm her having something and someone drops by...oh well...they just have to put up with it. Just like when my kids were little and "sprayed" blowing out the candles on their bithday cakes. If someone didn't want to eat the frosting that was their business..but it was my little ones cake and he got to blow out the candles.

Hi Everybody, I guess our cats are not the only ones to eat off our plates. Our cats are family. This is where they live. Our visitors should respect them. Skyharp

Skyharp..I like the way you think. My babies are more company for me than any human ever has been, and all they ask in return is for me to love them, a very easy task. They can have all they want from my plate, it's my pleasure to bring them happiness.
