I took my son and granddaughter to see it this weekend. DS and I are trekkies, DGD is not but was willing to give it a try. It was WAY over the top, and we all loved it. I tried not to think too much about the plot absurdities, just went with them. I liked how the Spock actor nailed the character, and thought the Kirk actor was far more appealing as a headstrong semi-delinquent than Shatner EVER was. I also liked the McCoy actor's interpretation of the character but missed Deforest Kelley's North Carolina accent. The accent softened McCoy's curmudgeonly personality; too bad they had to let it go.
