David Frost in Beyond The Fringe, The Monty Python Team, Hugh Laurie before House when he performed as part of comedy duo Fry and Laurie, French and Saunders - these are all examples of the sketch show artists. Unlike a sitcom, there is no chance to get bored with sketches - they don't last long enough! See the latest article Comedy Sketch Shows

Also check out another British comedy show The Inbetweeners

I am in America so I can't watch all the Brit comedy shows. But I am able to see some of them. One of my favs is The Buds of May. I also enjoy Keeping Up Appearances, Up All Night and one other, I can't remember the name, British names for shows are also Very funny, to me anyway. It's about some old folks in a little village. I want to say One Foot in the Grave but I know that's not correct. I may have gotten a name or two wrong, you can correct me. I have all the Fawlty Towers on DVD. Gleese is one of my fav comedians. One thing about Brit comedy and other Brit movies and shows is that is not ALL about young, beautiful people. These people are REAL. With age spots, bad teeth and physical deformities and real problems I can relate to.

Are you thinking of Last of the Summer Wine?
Fawlty Towers is a great sitcom. What do you think of sketch shows - MOnty Python, A bit of Fry and Laurie etc.
I agree about the perfect people. that's what I always think with Friends - they are too beautiful and they have job in cafes yet have lovely apartments - it's not real life, just a fantasy.

Kind of wild and crazy bordering on lunacy. I have to see some more than once to actually GET the humour. I do like how the Brits throw the word "BUM" around so freely. That's kind of cute. Ah, "Friends" some of the humour there is quite good. Especially Chanadaler Bong's. { Chandler Bing } Joey is pretty funny most of the time and Phoebe, I love her. I am a lot like her so I get much of the stuff most people don't. "Icky Shoe" Hahahahaha. You have to love her songs. I think there was one episode about how honest she was with her lyrics and the kids flocked to see her. Ross is a bit of a prig though most of the time. I couldn't STAND him as a boyfriend. He nags like an old fishwife.

I think Blossoms of May or Last Buds of May is a different one with David, David, I can't think of his last name, something as the Dad and what's her name, Catherine Zeta Jones as the eldest daughter. I have to say that one Is my all time favourite Brit comedy. The Mother is SO sweet and loving. We all should have a Mum like that. It's been a while since I've seen that. I wonder if it's on DVD. I'd buy it.

I love Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By and my favorite The Vicar of Dilby. I don't get to see the Vicar very often because now they put it on so late at night that I fall asleep before it is on.

Oh yes, I do like them too. I just LOVE Judy Dench. Oh and another show I like is not a comedy but a Mystery, Rosemary and Thyme?? I may have the title incorrect. Two gardeners who solve crimes. There was one female in one of the friends episodes, Emily? Ross married her but that was the end of it when he said "Rachael". Hahahahaha. How stupid was that? She was from England. What is her name? I have seen her in a few other shows too.

Her name is Helen Baxendale. I haven't seen her in anything lately.
The Vicar of Dibley is very popular as was Absolutely Fabulous - the French and Saunders duo working separately.
Watch out for Outnumbered - it's a great sitcom with young children that is largely extemporised. It works very well - it may be on BBC America soon.
