My husband and I don't want kids. In our 40's. He was to have a vasectomy this week but we postponed it to give me more time to process the finality of the procedure. I am a person who likes to be in control and having the choice gone kind-of freaked me out - so we postponed for now. But, I began to wonder what people's opinions were on vasectomy vs. tubal ligation. Is one better than the other? One easier on the body than the other? I would like some opinions if they are out there. Thanks!!!

Well, I personally found that (and this is probably the reason I chose a vasectomy)the hormonal effect of the tubal would not work for me, because I have always reacted badly to hormone inbalance. Also I kinda figured, the intensity of the surgury seemed lighter on the guys. Besides, I was tired of being the one taking care of family planning. I had tried so many diff things before settling with the copper T. Both would have been great tho' just to be sure.

Vas are very quick, simple, and easily recovered from. It takes all of 20 minutes and he is done. All you need to do is get some cheap frozen peas in bags and all is good. He will be back to normal within 3 days. His is also easily reversed at a later date.

TL are very invasive, take lots of time to recover, and harder to reverse. I say have him do it. Just my 2 cents.
