Here's the prompt -

February 20th - Today is World Day for Social Justice. There are many cases of injustice in our world today, even in countries where freedom abounds. What injustice have you recently suffered?

Feb 20th Prompt

I was thinking about this recently, having finished another how-to-journal book that I was reviewing. The author was talking about all the pain and agony that many journal writers are going through. I appreciated just how LUCKY I was to have a peaceful, happy life. I do not have an ex trying to hurt me. I do not have drug users outside my doorstep. Compared with many people out there, my life is one they would dream about.

So I really don't think I've had any injustices recently. It's yet another reminder of how content I am, and how much I should appreciate this.

Lately, I have dealt with a lot of injustice, it has made me more empathetic to others problems. Instead of just passing by or over other people's sad stories, I now have a tendency to read them and try and put myself in their situation. It has made me a sadder but better person.

Life is full of injustices, big and small. Writing helps me put them in perspective. For instance, the admittedly dumb injustices that we endure every day. For an example, a co-worker got assigned a project that I had been SO looking forward to doing. I wrote a ream about that one, and it helped me let go of some of my resentment. (Not all but some!) Later on, when she made a hopeless mess of it, I have to admit that I wrote about that with quite a bit of nasty glee, the "told ya so" kind.
