I am clearly a newbie! This instruction doesn't quite make sense to me. It states
*(knit 1, purl 1, knit 1) all into next st, purl 3 together; repeat from *

I would appreciate any help! Thanks

Okay, what you need to do is Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 all into one stitch without moving the stitch from the left needle until the last knit 1. This creates a bump or bobble, but also increase the amount of stitches you have by three. Then in the next three stitches instead of just purling one stitch you insert your needle in the front of the next three stitches and purl them all together.

I hope this helps.

Is that similar to pkp? I am working on a pattern that calls for pkp to increase and I am not so sure about it. I have tried it and it looks funky!

Yes, you would purl into the next stitch without taking the stitch off, then knit without taking the stitch off the needle, finally purl into the same stitch and then move the stitch from the left to the right needle. This is a double increase.

Good luck, and I hope this helps,

This sounds like what we used to call blackberry stitch, because it makes little knobbles like blackberries
Keep knitting!
