If you are a plus size woman heading down the aisle then you might want to check out this review of Down That Aisle in Style.

The bride's dress is one of the biggest features of a wedding. Don't limit your shopping to your local beauty salons. You'll find a listing of online shops offering plus size bridal dresses in my Plus Size Wedding Dresses (and Brides Maids) article.

For my 2nd marriage I weighed right at 200 lbs when I got married, and wore between a size 18-20.

I found many lovely gowns, but none that I just truly loved that I tried on. But there were 2 that I saw on the internet that I really liked - one I loved the body and train of, the other I loved the top and sleeves of (and my arms are very large - so extremely hard to fit in "normal" clothes). So I took the 2 pictures to a local seamstress and asked if she could make me a wedding dress. And she did! She also made my daughter's flower girl dress to match.

And by having this very personal wedding dress done - it was completely my size, my style, and flattered ME - not some model in a catalogue.

It's a lovely dress Michelle. How many years ago is that?

I was lucky to find one I liked. Being over 15 years ago, of course they didn't have it in the store and I had to on on faith. It was luck really.

Here's an image of mine. The actual picture is better. LOL. I could copy it again but I think you get the idea. We almost have the same hair do. wink

Mine was in Feb. 2001, so just a little over 8 years ago.

They have really come a long way with plus size gowns over the years - I was just looking around the web, and there are some really beautiful ones out there!

Oh! You just know *I* was going to find this thread... LOLs Here's me in my wedding dress. This is my 2nd marriage. I bought the dress from LaneBryant.com. It was a closeout as they no longer sell wedding dresses.

Those are blue (but look purple) iris & yellow roses. I remember the exact name of the roses, but they were smaller ones.

I came across a good place for wedding gowns, along with mother-of-the bride/groom gowns. It was from Hazels Rawhide Western Wedding Wear Store. I found it when I was looking for plus-size panties (size 15) on Amazon and never did find them, so I was checking the places they have listed below their items for sale and came across them. Also, managed to get signed up for some plus-size catalogs, too. So hopefully I can find some panties. Donna Werhan donnaw@kans.com

All three of those dresses are gorgeous! I am so happy that stores are selling more and more dresses in all sizes. I also agree that - if you can afford it - having a dress made "right to your size" is always going to be the best fit. No human being ever fits the "standard sizes" they sell in stores. They are always approximate guesses. If you can find someone who understands your dreams and can fit a dress to you, that is going to create a spectacular result.

It's almost a shame that we have moved to a society where things must be store bought and sort-of fit. We all have different bodies. We are all different sizes. We should be celebrated for those differences!
