If your mother is still alive, do you do anything for her or with her for Mother's Day? What types of things do you like to do?

I like to go to dinner with my Mom. That way I give her the gift of time, we enjoy our time together, and I don't clutter herself with unwanted "stuff".

Lisa,
I have agree with you. I ask my adult chldren not to "buy" me a gift. But, spend some quality time with me. One tradition my daughter and I try to keep is..we cook a mother's day dinner together. This is her first mother's day..it should be fun to have an 11 month old cooking with us..lol

Hi,

I have been absent for a while because of a serious car accident. However, I am struggling really hard to get back on track and thought I would post to the forum first!

Lisa, your topic on Mother's Day is thought provoking, for sure! I love to have time with my kids--that is the most precious gift. Material things don't matter, although I must admit that I enjoy flowers, but they can be picked from a garden or the side of the road. I don't need anything expensive.

I have a Mother's Day BBQ at my house every year. We invite both of our parents and all our siblings. I give every mom a little gift, such as a flower or homemade goodies. Each of our moms and grandmas get bigger gifts, like a weekend spa trip or maid service for 3 months.

Annie - I love the maid service idea! You are giving them a present, and they get a cleaner house too! Talk about perfect!

A Great gift for Mom can be both...co-incidence, I just wrote an article about giving a good read as a gift and then sharing coffee and cookies and a gossip about the book after you've both read it!

I'm with Lisa too-good experiences like that are to treasure.
