I approach career goals, much like I approach most other goals. slowly, 10 at a time, with lots of steps in between. During my layoff, i was devastated. My whole career was side-lined and I didn't know what to do. After contacting ResumeGuru to fix up my resume and cover letter, they gave me a set of helpful interview tips and job search tips. one particular hint that stood out was how to plan my day and track my progress. they basically taught me to have a goal of X number of applications per day, to follow up on my applications and call recruiters to verify the status of my applciation so that I wouldn't be left hanging, wondering if I was really going to score a job. they also taught me not to settle for second best, that i should shoot for the dream job i wanted, regardless of how lousy the economy was. it was sound advice, and I thank ResumeGuru for their online resume help as industry recruiters and their constant attention to detail. their guidance has truly been a boon in my career search. i'm getting to my new found corner office in downtown Seattle at my new job *yay props to me* so i recommend to everyone, if you need a lil guidance, it never hurts to ask the professionals.
