I think they love to insult people and bring them to tears or close to tears. I guess they think that increases the ratings. It is not my cup of tea.

That's great! She has a magnificent voice. Charlotte Church was another with a voice that was fabulous.

I love Simon. I love his bluntness and his ability to just be himself. It's a fresh breath of air on the boob-tube

He was amusing at first. Sometimes though it's just annoying because the constant nasty expression on his face is just silly.

I dislike it when the contestants all feel that they need to please just him....

When Simon asked Susan Boyle how old she was and then he pulled a face when she said 47. Well he is 49 - so what? Why are middle-aged/old women not allowed to exist? I hear there is no work for women in Hollywood after 35 (unless they are called Meryl Streep)

I agree with you about Meryl Streep, I think she's got her foot right in the door. Anyways...Simon. The whole X-Factor show is a rip off of Popstars (which I was on), which Simon had nothing to do with, Pop Idol though then ripped off the premise.
Then X-Factor (also been on it) and it's a complete set-up. You have to go through to lots of producers before you get to Simon, Louis, Danni & Cheryl. They choose. It's all planned out. There are no accidental people walking in on these shows and shaming themselves, they know what they're getting into. You basically sign away every right you have when going to audition.
I think Simon is a nice guy actually, the entire nasty guy is just a public persona. It's made up - fiction. All the reality shows have the nasty guy, he even stole that from Nasty Nigel (Popstars) who produces most of these shows. If you notice, Simon changes his personality and comments on Britains got talent a lot. As if he would like a group of little girls singing Mary Poppins tunes, Gimmie a break LOL.
I really dislike the way everyone seems to feel he knows everything on these shows. He doesn't. He has less knowledge about the industry than Louis Walsh (even though I hate to say that) - I mean this is the guy that brought us records from Mr.Blobby and Robsen and Jerome LOL.
It's all fixed, and its all fake. It makes for good entertainment, but I've been there - there were some truly talented, amazing singers not getting past the producers, but they let through a guy who was 100 years old and two teenage twins dressed as Angels.

I can't stand that Alexandra Burke either, the only reason she won (IMO) is because Beyonce came on with her and literally blew everyone away. Did you see the dramatics on that girl? It was so funny. They probably decided the year before that she would win. I know this all sounds critical, but I believe that the entire thing is strongly manipulated (the sob stories for example, for which the producers of the show insist on.)

The talent does get through, for example Carrie Underwood, Leona Lewis and Will Young - but if you notice, they always leave Simon Cowell's record label and management, like Carrie, like Kelly Clarkson and Will Young. I think he's a nce guy (for example he gives hundreds to charity and bought a family back their home). Sorry for the long answer LOL. Just thought you'd like to see an opinion from someone who's been on the show.

Actually, the auditions for X-Factor are coming up now LOL.
