I just started using BellaOnline and I'd like to know where journal writers get prompts? I'd like to have some new ideas of things to write about, since most of the things I've seen are the same thing.

If you go to the BellaOnline Journals website, you'll find a ton of prompts there. Angela has prompts for every day of the year, and then more specific ones for seasons and so on! This forum goes along with that BellaOnline website.

Welcome! I'm glad you found us! I've just posted new daily journaling prompts for the week - April Journaling Prompts

You may also find the Spring Themed Journaling Prompts article of interest.

Feel free to share any of your answers with us, or use them as inspiration for filling your own private journal.

I am working on one that is a Book of Hours for the Desert. I might make four, one for each season. But I was also thinking it might be better to have the four seasons on each page for comparison. The times of day would be the same. Because of the fact that I am really into the wilderness surrounding me I think this would be interesting. Because it would involve my daily activities as an artist and naturalist, and the habits/changes of the local flora and fauna

Donnalda, that sounds wonderful. I'm reading a book now called A Version of the Truth. It's a novel that takes place in a rural area. The writers' descriptions are just beautiful. I imagine the authors spent lots of time in nature with their journals to write the book.

I've started my own blog of journal topics. I only have a few so far, but will be adding many more daily.

Another cool place to find prompts is.... Old Journals! I find it helpful to look back at my old entries and do a sort of follow-up in my current journal. It can help me to feel more positive about myself (something I've always had trouble with) to see that yeah, I really have made progress!

I started a new project several months ago and would like to share with you. Not sure if it would come under prompts, but it has helped me find things to write about. I used a spiral notebook for portability. Beginning with the year my parents were married, I outlined every year since was born. I used colored post-its to mark how old I was (in April) and whatgrade I was (in September). As I worked, I added details as they came to me and found some wonderful prompts to explor and found myself remembering things I needed to journal about for various reasons. Since starting this project, I try to upddate this year once a month and am considering doing something for each of my grandchildren.

What a neat idea, Lynn Ann! I have gotten a ton of prompts from my mother's old diaries.
